Meghnaghat
718 MW Combined-Cycle Power Plant is a significant asset in Bangladesh's energy
infrastructure, helping to enhance energy security, promote economic
development, and meet the country's electricity needs.
The
Meghnaghat Power Plant is situated in the Meghnaghat Industrial Complex, which
is located in the Narayanganj district of Bangladesh, some 25km southeast of
the Bangladeshi capital of Dhaka. It will generate electricity to power
the industrial complex as well as residential homes in nearby towns and cities,
including Dhaka itself.
This is a project to build a 718MW
combined cycle power plant consisting of two gas turbines, one steam turbine,
two heat-recovery boilers, and a substation. In total, it is valued at USD 630
million (KRW 750 billion). Samsung C&T was awarded the contract for this
project as an exclusive contractor and will spend 34 months from October 2019
to July 2022 working on it.
